About this VEGT–VEIM RTR Part 2 question paper

Paper 06 in the PilotRadio RTR Part 2 library takes you from Guwahati (VEGT) to Imphal (VEIM), flying an ATR 72-600 with callsign VT-ICQ on route W53. The flight is planned under IFR at FL230.

Every call in the RTR Part 2 practical test is a small skill check. This paper strings 17 of them together, from standard RT phraseology & spelling, taxiway conflicts, pushback & start-up calls, weather & visibility problems, TCAS resolution advisories and unruly passengers.

Repeating a paper until the calls come out smoothly is one of the best ways to prepare. Pay special attention to taxiway conflict (Q7), TCAS RA (Q16) and unruly passenger (Q17). There are 3 VEGT to VEIM papers in the library, so compare them to see which situations come up again. You can do exactly that, with model answers, in the free PilotRadio simulator.

What this VEGT to VEIM paper tests

This paper has 17 questions and follows one complete flight from Guwahati (VEGT) to Imphal (VEIM) in a ATR 72-600, callsign VT-ICQ. 17 questions are routine operations — pushback, taxi instructions, clearances and readbacks, landing and climb. The other 0 turn abnormal or urgent. That mix is exactly how the DGCA RTR Part 2 exam is built: standard phraseology first, then a situation that tests whether your phraseology holds up under pressure.

Notice how the paper is paced: routine calls build your rhythm first, and the difficult situations arrive when you are already 'in the flight'. That is the real DGCA pattern. The best preparation is to run the whole paper against a timer, in order, without stopping to re-read — then go back and repair the calls that broke down.

Where candidates lose marks in this paper

Most marks in Part 2 are not lost on knowledge — they are lost on order and completeness. The pressure points in this paper are the abnormal situations: students rush these calls, forget to state their intentions, or read back only half of the instruction. Examiners also notice the small things quickly — a missing callsign, the wrong station name, or a "roger" where a full readback was required.

What helps most is boring discipline: correct station name first, full readbacks, and a short pause to plan before you transmit on the difficult questions. Guesswork is what examiners punish — a pilot who asks 'say again' sounds professional, a pilot who invents a frequency does not. Rehearse the emergency and abnormal calls until their order is muscle memory.

Get exam-ready with the VEGT to VEIM paper

Run it against the clock. Start a timer, speak every call out loud and only review once you reach the last question.

Take a second to plan each call. A calm, correct call beats a fast, messy one.

Get the basics right every time. Station name, callsign, frequency on first contact and correct read-backs earn marks in any paper.

Give the tough scenarios extra reps. TCAS RA, unruly passenger and taxiway conflict deserve more practice than routine calls.

Practise the position report on its own. Use different waypoints and times so the format sticks.
