Goa Dabolim to Ahmedabad RTR Part 2 paper: route and scenarios

Student pilots practising the VOGO–VAAH sector will find a Boeing 737-800, callsign AKJ1439, waiting in this paper. You depart Goa Dabolim (VOGO) for Ahmedabad (VAAH) on route W15. The flight is planned under IFR at FL320.

A Part 2 practical paper is less about memorising and more about responding correctly under pressure. Here, 10 questions on ATC & taxi clearances, pushback & start-up calls, bird & animal hazards, cabin depressurisation, low-fuel situations and windshear on approach test exactly that.

Use this VOGO–VAAH paper as a full dress rehearsal before the exam. Pay special attention to depressurisation (Q8), low fuel (Q9) and windshear (Q10). There are 2 VOGO to VAAH papers in the library, so compare them to see which situations come up again. The free simulator at pilotradio.in lets you attempt it with a timer and see the model answers.

What this VOGO to VAAH paper tests

This paper has 10 questions and follows one complete flight from VOGO (VOGO) to VAAH (VAAH) in a Boeing 737-800, callsign AKJ1439. 9 questions are routine operations — clearances and readbacks, pushback, start-up, taxi instructions and take-off. The other 1 turn abnormal or urgent — emergency calls. That mix is exactly how the DGCA RTR Part 2 exam is built: standard phraseology first, then a situation that tests whether your phraseology holds up under pressure.

The sequence is deliberate: the paper moves like a real flight, and information from the first calls — stand, runway, squawk, level — keeps coming back in later questions. Practise it as one continuous flight, speaking every answer aloud. Reading silently feels easier, but Part 2 is an oral exam, and only spoken practice builds the speed the examiner expects.

Practice tips for the VOGO to VAAH RTR Part 2 paper

Practise under time pressure. Keep the clock running between questions, just as you would in the exam room.

Read the whole situation first. Decide who you are calling and what you need to say before you transmit.

Get the basics right every time. Station name, callsign, frequency on first contact and correct read-backs earn marks in any paper.

Rehearse the abnormal calls. Situations such as depressurisation, windshear and low fuel are easy to fumble under pressure, so repeat them until the call order feels automatic.

Practise the position report on its own. Use different waypoints and times so the format sticks.

Where candidates lose marks in this paper

Most marks in Part 2 are not lost on knowledge — they are lost on order and completeness. The pressure points in this paper are emergency calls: students rush these calls, forget to state their intentions, or read back only half of the instruction. Examiners also notice the small things quickly — a missing callsign, the wrong station name, or a "roger" where a full readback was required.

Three habits separate a pass from a repeat attempt here: start every call with the correct station name, read back instructions completely instead of answering 'roger', and never guess a frequency — ask for a repeat. After that, drill the abnormal questions out loud; under exam pressure you will fall back on whatever you have rehearsed, not on what you have read.
