Delhi to Ahmedabad RTR Part 2 paper: route and scenarios

Looking for VIDP to VAAH RTR exam questions on 05/10/2026 (Afternoon session)? This page puts you in a Boeing 737, callsign AKJ1901, between Delhi (VIDP) and Ahmedabad (VAAH) on route A76. The flight is planned under IFR at FL200.

What does this paper test? Like every DGCA RTR Part 2 practical paper, it measures clear, correct and calm radio telephony. Here that means 7 questions on climb clearances & frequency changes, severe turbulence, TCAS resolution advisories, a lightning strike, descent, approach & landing calls and ILS failure & approach problems.

Why practise it? A complete paper lets you rehearse the whole flight in sequence instead of isolated calls, which is what the exam asks of you. Pay special attention to turbulence (Q2), TCAS RA (Q3) and lightning strike (Q4). Try timed practice and model answers in the free simulator at pilotradio.in.

What this VIDP to VAAH paper tests

This paper has 7 questions and follows one complete flight from VIDP (VIDP) to VAAH (VAAH) in a Boeing 737, callsign AKJ1901. 4 questions are routine operations — climb, descent and approach, frequency changes and clearances and readbacks. The other 3 turn abnormal or urgent — emergency calls, diversion and ILS problems. That mix is exactly how the DGCA RTR Part 2 exam is built: standard phraseology first, then a situation that tests whether your phraseology holds up under pressure.

In the exam room, one examiner plays ATC and the situations arrive in sequence, so a detail from an early call — your stand, your runway, your level — can matter again three questions later. Work through this paper in order and out loud, and treat every call as a transmission you cannot take back. Candidates who practise complete papers end-to-end, instead of reading single questions, walk in noticeably calmer.

Q1. 1.You are in contact with Approach. Passing 3,000 feet, climbing to FL150. Request further climb in accordance with your flight plan.

Q2. 2.En route, you encounter turbulence. Take appropriate action and inform ATC.

Q3. 3.You receive a TCAS Resolution Advisory (RA). Take appropriate action and inform ATC.

Q4. 4.Your aircraft is struck by lightning, resulting in structural damage. Declare an emergency and request diversion to Udaipur.

Q5. 5.While approaching Udaipur, a sandstorm affects the aerodrome. Inform ATC and request diversion to Jaipur.

Q6. 6.Contact Approach and request approach clearance for Jaipur.

Practice tips for the VIDP to VAAH RTR Part 2 paper

Read the whole situation first. Decide who you are calling and what you need to say before you transmit.

Get the basics right every time. Station name, callsign, frequency on first contact and correct read-backs earn marks in any paper.

Set a timer. Answer the questions in order, aloud and without pausing, then review what you said.

Rehearse the abnormal calls. Situations such as lightning strike, TCAS RA and turbulence are easy to fumble under pressure, so repeat them until the call order feels automatic.

Ready to test yourself? Open the free simulator at pilotradio.in, practise the VIDP to VAAH paper with a timer, then compare your answers with the model answers.

Where candidates lose marks in this paper

Most marks in Part 2 are not lost on knowledge — they are lost on order and completeness. The pressure points in this paper are emergency calls, diversion and ILS problems: students rush these calls, forget to state their intentions, or read back only half of the instruction. Examiners also notice the small things quickly — a missing callsign, the wrong station name, or a "roger" where a full readback was required.

Build three habits and this paper gets easier: address the right station before you speak, read back every clearance and instruction in full, and if you miss a frequency or a detail, ask for it instead of guessing. Then rehearse the abnormal questions aloud until the sequence — state the problem, say your intentions, make the request — feels automatic.
